Beauty: The Woes of Sensitive Skin

So this is going to be a shorter article just to let you know. This one goes out to the girls like me who have to endure the pain of sensitive skin.

I have had sensitive skin since I was little. It all started with sunburn. I am very pale and so I burn very easily, like annoying easily. If I am going to be outside for an extended period of time during the summer, I have to wear sunscreen, especially on my face because my face burns the most (mostly my cheeks). Then came the problem. I would try to put on sunscreen and all of a sudden it felt like my skin was on fire! I had to wipe down my skin with a wet cloth and even then it ached. Then started my journey with sensitive skin. Eventually I found some sunscreen that I can use for my body, but the problem was my face. You know what I have to do? I buy GERMAN sunscreen. Yes, the bottle is in German! Crazy right?!

Other examples? I was at a dance competition with my dance team. I brought some new face wipes thinking they would be nice but when I tried to wipe my face at the end of the day, my face burned and turned bright red. Or I have to wash all my cloths before I wear them. You see, unwashed clothes have chemicals in them so they don't wrinkle. If I wear them without washing them, I breakout in small, red, itchy hives/rash, all over my chest and arms. It stays for several days and itches SO BAD!

So everyday is a journey. I am constantly on the lookout for new makeup, clothes, sunscreen, etc. that won't irritate my skin. I have to be careful with my skin, but I'm sure it will be worth it one day.

So here is my question: Do any of you have sensitive skin? If so, which products do you find work the best? I want to hear all of your suggestions! Leave them in the comments or email them to me at MissMarvelousMisadventure@gmail.com . If I get enough I will make a post with the suggestions so that others can use them as well!

Toodles sweeties!

Fashion: Swimsuits 2013 (Part 2)

The Classic (Triangle Bikini)
The classic bikini is the triangle bikini. Almost every store that carries swimwear carries a triangle bikini. These are the most common bikini and can be seen at the pool, beach, etc.
Pros: Easy to find, come in different colors, classic styles
Cons: Removable cups are annoying, everyones seen this before, can be hard to wear
Opinion: I think the triangle bikini is a safe bet as a bikini especially for women with smaller cup sizes. I own quite a few of those and generally like them. Its not hard to find a pattern or size you like since there are so many.

The Sporty Bikini
The sporty bikini is a bikini that while it is swimwear, it is more in the style of a sports bra than the other bikinis which are more string. These are perfect for beach sports, as well as provide more support and are more modest.
Pros: Modest, perfect for sports, support, comfortable
Cons: weird tan lines, not a classic style, harder to find
Opinions: I love this style because I spend a week each summer playing volleyball on the beach and this allows me to look cute while not being afraid to dive after the ball.

The Sporty One Piece
This is the bathing suit actual swimmers use. But this doesn't mean it can't be cute and that all women can't wear it. I have 5 nice bathing suits from companies such as Nike and Speedo that I LOVE! I encourage every women to own at least one as they make you look super sporty and are great for days when you are going to a waterpark.
Pros: Comfy, supportive, give you shape, won't fall off
Cons: can be unattractive, don't show much skin or cleavage
Opinions: I love them. Everyone should own one!

Fashion: Swimsuits for 2013 (Part 1)

It's already July! Can you guys believe it?
So I thought I would talk about swimsuits styles I have noticed this summer, which ones I like and which I don't, and how to rock whichever style you like.

The Bandeau
The Bandeau bikini is a bikini top with no straps. These have become very popular with people wanting to tan and I have seen a distinct rise in the popularity of these in the past few years.
Pros: Cute, come in many patterns, great for tanning
Cons: Difficult to swim/do athletic activity in, need to be adjusted a lot
Opinion: I really enjoy wearing these when I am relaxing or just tanning, but if I plan on doing any activity, I am likely to skip it. The ones I like bets are the ones that come with a detachable strap so if you want to swim, you can feel secure in a strap.

The "Vintage Style"
The vintage style bikini had surged back into popularity the last two years after being showcased by stars such as Taylor Swift. These bikinis tend to be a bit more modest with higher waisted bottoms and a more covered top.
Pro: More modest, more comfortable, fashion forward
Cons: Can be seen as strange to non-fashion people, harder to wear
Opinions: I personally love this style. I am all for the high waist line because it is an easy fix for a small muffin top (and I mean who doesn't have a little fat they would love to hide). The only thing is they can be difficult to wear. I think the most import part is getting one in a pattern that also has a vintage feel.

The Fashion Forward One Piece
In the past, one pieces have been restricted to swimmers. But people are now realizing that one pieces, while a lot more modest than string bikinis, can be just as sexy. I have seen plenty of women embrace the sexy one pieces. Can we talk about how great curved look in these one pieces? I put one on and found curves I never knew I had, and loved it! You can go for a more feminine one such as the one pictured below, or one a bit more edgier such as slits on the sides or mesh. Its all up to you!
Pro: Comfortable, modest, makes curves look great, secret sexy feel
Cons: You might feel like your mom, harder to pull of instant sexy

This will be continued tomorrow with three more types of swimsuits: the classic triangle bikini, the sporty bikini, and the sporty one piece. Stay tuned and I want to hear your feedback! Which bathing suit type is your favorite? Leave a comment for the chance to be featured in part two of the swimsuit post.

Keep on eye out for 3 more articles to come Adventure: Exploring an old barn, Adventure: Fourth of July and Fashion: The Goods (What I got this Shopping Trip).

Love hearing from you, and Happy Fourth of July to my American readers!

Adventure: Dance Camp

Hey friends!
Here is my first post as promised, my Adventures at Dance Camp!
So basically I went to UDA ( Universal Dance Association) Dance Camp for four days with my schools dance/pom team. There were 25 of us who went, some from JV some from Varsity (I'm on Varsity). I roomed with 3 other girls, and we shared two beds. We had to learn two routines each that were fast and difficult, and then were evaluated on those at the end. We also learned 4 other routines from guest choreographers and two "sidelines" which are short routines that would be performed at Football or Basketball games.

One special thing about this particular camp is spirit sticks. I know it is SUPER cliche! Basically each night all the teams that obeyed the rules and showed team spirit would get a spirit stick which is a plastic stick with UDA on the side. Because we got one all four nights we got to keep it and bring it home to show off! We also won the Super Spirit Stick on the 2nd night. The Super Spirit Stick is an award that the staff gives out on the first night to the team with the most spirit, then that team passes it on to another team the next night, and so on. It was a high honor to get that.

Our team was also voted by the other teams in attendance the Leadership Award, which meant a lot to us. The other teams were so kind, friendly, awesome to talk to, and fantastic dancers! It was an honor to dance with them and get to know them. I look forward to keeping in touch. I personally got a first place blue ribbon in both of my dances I was evaluated in as well as a special recognition ribbon from my coaches for being "Consistent and Incredible". Two girls on my team also qualified for All-American which is the highest award and qualifies them to perform in the London New Years Parade!

Basically it was a great, but stressful, weekend and I had a lot of fun. I'm so glad I got to go. I hope you guys enjoy the pictures.

More posts to come today so stay tuned!

Adventure: Hawks win the Cup!

THE BLACKHAWKS WON THE STANLEY CUP!!!
For those of you who don't know, the Stanley Cup is the championship in American Hockey. The Blackhawks are Chicago's hockey team. This is the second time in 4 years that they have won the cup.
The Blackhawks were playing the Boston Bruins and tonight they won against them in an amazing 18 second comeback with a final score of 3-2.

My Mom, Dad, and I went out to dinner at a BBQ place called Piggyback, to watch the game tonight, since in the US I'm not old enough to drink so we couldn't go to a bar. We watched the first two periods there and then came home to watch the third. It was so exciting, my heart was going a million miles an hour.
Since the teams were playing in Boston tonight, the Hawks didn't get a very big celebration with the crowd, but here in Chicago everyone is going crazy. Twitter and Facebook are filled with status, and all I can hear outside my window are fireworks. I've been following the team all season so this was an amazing night for me. I am just over the moon!

Here is a photo direct from the Blackhawks instagram showing the Captain Toews lifting the Stanley Cup

Any other readers Hawks fans? Let me know and we can celebrate together!

On an unrelated note, we got to 100 views today! Woohoo! More to celebrate! I know this seems like a small accomplishments, but it is the small things that add up. I hope you guys like what you see and continue to read, comment, and follow on bloglovin.

CONGRATS HAWKS!
